A WhatsApp conversation is a 24-hour messaging window initiated only when a business messages a user. Within this 24-hour conversation session, businesses and users can exchange any number of messages, including template messages, without incurring additional charges.

The type of conversation is identified based on the template message. When submitting a template for approval, you will have the option to specify the type of message. Approval usually takes 1-2 minutes. Service conversations do not require any approval from WhatsApp.

Free Conversations: Businesses are entitled to 1000 free conversations per month for Service category messages, which are user-initiated conversations.
Multiple Category Conversations: If a conversation involves multiple categories such as Marketing, Authentication, Utility, or Service, charges will be applied separately for each category's conversation window initiated.
Category-specific Charges: Each category of messages, including Marketing, Authentication, Utility, or Service, incurs its own charges.
Charges for Multiple Categories: If messages from different categories are sent to the same user within a 24-hour window, charges will be applied for each category separately.
24-hour Window: When initiating a conversation in a specific category, businesses have a 24-hour window to chat with customers without incurring extra charges. This allows ample time for effective communication and support.
Charge Calculation: Charges are calculated based on the number of conversations initiated within each category and any template message responses sent within those conversations.
Monthly Usage Reports: Businesses receive monthly usage reports detailing their conversation usage across different categories, helping them track their usage and manage costs effectively.
Messaging limits on Facebook are imposed to ensure a controlled and efficient communication environment, especially for businesses. Here's how it typically works:
Unverified Business Manager: If your Facebook Business Manager is not verified, you're limited to messaging 50 users per day. Verification usually takes around 3 hours to 2 days.
Tier 1: After your Business Manager is verified, you start at Tier 1, where you can send messages to 1000 users per 24 hours. If you consistently send messages to 500 users within 7 days, you'll advance to Tier 2.
Tier 2: In Tier 2, your messaging limit increases to 10,000 users per 24 hours. Similar to Tier 1, if you maintain sending messages to 5000 users within 7 days, you'll progress to Tier 3.
Tier 3: Tier 3 allows you to message up to 100,000 users per 24 hours. To move to Tier 4, you need to send messages to 50,000 users within 7 days.
Tier 4: At Tier 4, there are no predefined messaging limits, providing you with the flexibility to message unlimited users within a 24-hour period.
These tiers and limits are designed to encourage responsible messaging practices and prevent spamming while allowing businesses to scale their communication efforts as they grow and demonstrate consistent engagement.
